“Recognizing the fact that enforcement of Intellectual Property is most important in the lifeline of IP, Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) in collaboration with Anand and Anand and the support of other Associations such as International Trademark Association (INTA), Indian Beauty and Hygiene Association (IBHA) and React – The Anti-Counterfeiting Network, organised a Workshop to discuss the various challenges faced in IPR Enforcement actions in Delhi-NCR region and to identify the viable solutions.”
The Workshop was held in the Jacaranda Hall at the Indian Habitat Centre, Delhi on 09 March, 2019 and was attended by many notable dignitaries from the various Ministries, Custom officials, CIPAM, brand representatives and many more. The Workshop was opened with a Welcome Note and Introduction by Pravin Anand followed by a Keynote Address by HMJ Manmohan (Judge, Delhi High Court).
Multiple Panel discussions took place through the day:
· HMJ Prathiba M. Singh (Judge, Delhi High Court), Rajiv Aggarwal (Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry) and Dr. Ajai Kumar Garg (Director, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) shared their views on “Enforcement of IP Rights in Digital landscape: Online counterfeiting and liabilities of intermediaries.”
· The Second Panel Discussion saw notable personalities HMJ J.R. Midha (Judge, Delhi High Court), Suvashis Choudhary (Addl. Commissioner of Police, EOW), Dev Bajpai (Executive Director, Legal & Corporate Affairs and Company Secretary, HUL) and Arvind Gopal (Attorney Digital Crime Unit, Microsoft India) enlightening the audience on “Civil and Criminal enforcement of IP Rights in Delhi.”
· HMJ Vibhu Bakhru (Judge, Delhi High Court), Komal Kahla (Senior Counsel, US Patent and Trademark Office), Dr. S. Eswara Reddy (Drugs Controller General of India), Subodh Singh (Joint Commissioner of Customs) and Abhishek Dhoreliya – CEO, MarkScan lent their views on the “Need for inter-departmental collaboration and need for Central Agency.”
· Pravin Anand, Saif Khan and MS Bharath were the moderators during the panel discussions respectively.
