Entrepreneurs sometimes miss important steps in the process of protecting and maintaining their IP rights. Speaking at Bhive Workspace in Kormangala, Bengaluru, M.S. Bharath discusses some common pitfalls and how they are avoided.

Entrepreneurs, established and start-up, attended what was initially planned to be a two hour talk by M.S. Bharath on the relevance of protecting intellectual property for start-ups, but the session turned instead into 180 minutes of ‘Q&A’ . Commonly raised concerns revolved around collaboration: what happens when businesses or individuals work with two or three other persons and entities and no agreements are signed? Who owns the intellectual property? And what are the prefacing steps and formalities that can avert confusion and hassle in future?

The occasion was the first start-up event held by the firm in Bengaluru. The firm regularly hosts and participates in initiatives that broach intellectual property protection and commercial best practices for businesses, both established and nascent. The firm also hosted an interactive session at Ignition, talking about the distinct legal and compliance challenges in various industries.
