The automotive industry is quite complex and ever evolving with advent of technology and with it the importance of Standard Essential Patents in the industry is growing too.

Writing for Asia IP Magazine, Partner Ritika Ahuja explores facets of Standard Essential Patents in this segment while also touching upon the recent United Kingdom Supreme Court ruling which said that instead of negotiating separate licenses for each country, car companies can get one global license that covers the whole world.

“This is expected to encourage companies to focus more on innovation rather than being involved in unnecessary licensing processes in each country where they wish to commercialize their product,” writes Ritika.
