The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) has honoured Safir Anand for his contribution to the cause of fashion in his capacity as a member of the FDCI Board of Governors.

Much like the sparkling event night at the Taj Palace, the trophy that was handed over to Safir is a bedazzling representation of human form in haute couture. It’s a mesmerising metal sculpture that captures the true essence and multiple hues of fashion – cut out in a sophisticated design faceted at angles such that every angle returns a different shade making the trophy a work of art in itself.

Who’s who of the fashion world including India’s most noted designers from Rohit Bal to Tarun Tahiliani, J J Valaya, Rahul Mishra, Gaurav Gupta, Varun Bahl, Rimple Harpreet Narula, Falguni Shane Peacock, Shantanu Nikhil, Anju Modi were among the celebrities of the world of fashion congregated for the prestigious award ceremony which sees FDCI recognising the contribution of people – designers, models, photographers to choreographers, media persons and every other talent – who have brought about a difference in the world of fashion.

In addition to being Safir Anand honoured by FDCI for his contributions to fashion, Mr. Anand’s influence extends well beyond the runway. He is a Senior Partner and Head of Trademarks, Commercial & Contractual IP at Anand and Anand, recognised as one of India’s top intellectual property attorneys with over 25 years of experience advising leading businesses across sectors including fashion, luxury, media and entertainment.

Mr. Safir Anand has played a pivotal role in shaping the fashion industry’s understanding of IP, helping designers protect and monetise their creations, and raising awareness of copyright and trademark issues within the design community. He was invited to join the FDCI Board in 2017 as a legal expert, where he has contributed to education and strategy on copyright and brand protection for fashion houses and emerging designers alike.

Here’s a media coverage of the starry night…
